CORRECTION:
After my trip to Atlantic City with Owen I headed to NYC with my girl friends. We had the best time ever. We saw the sites, ate great food and laughed at Upright Citizen's Brigade.
Watertowers on top of NYC building in setting sun while on train. I love the look of the sun shining off the train. |
It is hard to see but way out there on Ellis Island is a watertower. |
Check out all those roof watertowers. |

It's so odd to see someone 'not in the business' have such an interest in water towers. LOL My great grandfather (mother's side) got into the maintenance and repair of smoke stacks and water towers in 1919. Two of his sons also made it their life work [John 1950-1973 and Robert 1952-1984] and my father worked for them from 1956-1988. Even now there are a couple of grandsons and several great grandsons making a nice living at it. They have been able to travel all over the USA and work with very little competition since there are probably no more than two dozen companies that do that type of work exclusively and even fewer that build and take down exisitng water towers.
Vicki,
Thank you for your comment. I think I missed my calling. I know nothing about the engineering of water towers but just love the architecture and what's painted on them.
