A day for JUBILEE

Wake County Water Tower #6

Garner. NC.

We headed out on 70-East towards the American Music Jubilee in Selma. The Garner water tower was right behind the East Garner Middle School which was once an igloo recycling site but now has the FEED THE BIN school recycling program.

Clayton. NC.

Continuing on 70 we hit Clayton. They had a great water tower with lots of detail.

Johnston County. NC.

and

Smithfield. NC.

Selma. NC.

A great water tower awaited us in Selma, home to many antique shops, a refurbished train station and the "Rudy Theater" home to the American Music Jubilee. Definitely a "Charming place to be"!

The Jubilee is a mixture of Hee Haw, the Lawrence Welk show and a local talent show. The music was good but I had trouble understanding the very southern comedian.

I almost wore my cowboy hat but left it at home.

Until next time.

Giving Thanks in Cary

Wake County Water Tower #5

Cary. NC.

We had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving yesterday. Ate turkey at the local cafeteria that was packed with other like-minded folks. Took the dogs for a walk in the suburban wilderness and watched "The Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler.

For my birthday, Owen and I sat in these bleachers and watched a high school band competition for 3 hours. It was great!

I am very thankful to live where I do. I love my neighborhood and how everything I need is in walking distance (if only I chose to walk more often).

Haircut at the Peak

Wake County water tower #4.

Apex. NC.

Yesterday I got my haircut by Kelly at Headcase Studio. I love going there. Not only is there a water tower directly across the street but she makes me feel so wild, weird and young. When I go there I think of my hair as a blank canvas and ask her to cut my hair in ways that other people do not ask her to cut hair. She teases me but at the same time likes the challenge.

This fall, this was my different layered and different colored haircut. Yesterday I kept with the same layers but had her cut zig-zags in the layers so the bottom of my hair has triangles cut into it.

20 THINGS

Casey, Thanks for tagging me to write 20 random things about myself. However, as a control-freak that is working on being positive I decided to write about things that I like versus random items.

I like:
1-5) Hot buttered noodles, muscadine grapes, popcorn, summer sausage and pretzels from southern Germany.
6) My hammock, if there were no mosquitos.
7) Waking up with sunshine in my face. However this rarely happens. So now I like -
8) Doing yoga while the sun is rising.
9) Owen's funny side.
10) The Muppets.
11) Acapella music.
12) The smell of gardinas in the spring and this holly bush that blooms in the fall but I don't know its name.
13) A clean house especially when you can see the lines from the vacuum in the carpet.
14) Dancing.
15) When Q-tip, my dog, nestles in my legs.
16) Parades and marching bands. These actually make me cry, but a "good" cry.
17) Not having kids.
18) Massages and manicures.
19) Oh, one last food item - A peppered bacon bagel from Brueggers.
20) Last but not least - WATER TOWERS.

The only other person I know to tag is Owen. He is starting a blog for his basketball Team - DABUBBAZ.

Next to an animal lover

Hamlet. NC.

Owen's coworker, Darin and his girlfriend Susan, took this great picture while dropping off a furry friend to an animal lover.

Thanks, Darin.

Getting my morning bagel

Raleigh. NC.

Here is one of the Raleigh water towers I see when I take the back-way to work. The back-way comes in handy when I need gas or a bagel at Brueggers in the morning.

My four leaf clover

Columbia. NC.

My coworker and I went to an environmental education conference this weekend held at a 4-H conference center. Guess what was our beacon showing us where the facility was?

The four leaf clover on the tower provides luck to those playing miniature golf in the field near it.

The building was right on the Albemarle Sound. I watched a beautiful sunset while there.
