H2O - Water Towers, Etc.

12/04-Driving from Columbia, MO to Raleigh, NC I noticed water towers in the distance, some from miles away. Most often they showed the town's name so you would know where you were without the map. I wish I started to take pictures on that trip, but the idea of logging H2O towers was only in its infancy. This blog came almost a year later when I realized I really enjoy taking the back road to find what neat H2O towers exist. Feel free to post a link or story about your town's local H2O tower.

Family Wedding in Lake Lure, NC - July 2013

Owen and I flew in and out of Charlotte, NC for a family wedding. We were literally in town for one night. The drive from Charlotte to Lake Lure (you know where Dirty Dancing was partially filmed) afforded us some water tower hunting though.

This was a cute little water tower outside of an old school turned community center. I didn't fund much about it. One blurb here.

I wanted to update you on the water tower at Trelleborg (formerly Reeves Brothers, hence the big R on the tower), in Ruth, NC. The tower was originally built to supply the sprinkler system, in conjunction with a large cement pond located close to the base of the tower. In the past months the water tower has been taken down and the sprinkler system connected to the city water line. I also worked there when it was Reeves and it was nice to see the tower again. Thanks for the clarification of what the R meant on tower. I thought it might be for Ruth but figured it was part of the industrial complex there. As a watertower lover I hate to see these towers come down. They are institutions of a community.
