10 Years and Still going STRONG - July 3, 2006

To celebrate our 10-Year anniversary we took a little road trip.

Wilson. NC

This was a great water tower with a large bull dog painted on it for Barton College which is in Wilson.

Whites Tires. Wilson. NC

I found these 2 cool old water towers in a kind-of run down part of town in Wilson. I think Whites Tires must be one of the main companies in town.

The large man statue is a famous "Roadside America" piece.

Farmville. NC

Owen and I ate at a Pizza Hut in Farmville because we couldn't find any good restaurants in Wilson. If anyone knows of a good restaurant in Wilson please comment on this post.

Greenville. NC.

East Carolina University had a presence in this town. Their mascot is a pirate. Similar to Owen's alleged ancestor, Edward Teach (a.k.a. Blackbeard).

Washington. NC.

The first little town we stopped at along the way - Washington. We walked along the Pamlico River but the estuarium was closed and it was nearly 100 degrees.

Pactolus. NC.

Beaufort County. NC.

Our final destination was the River Forest Marina and Inn at Belhaven, NC. Unfortunately Belhaven's 1 water tower was very boring so I didn't take a picture. However, we passed lots of Beafort County water towers.

Belhaven's Fourth of July parade included lots of emergency vehicles, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, new cars and old cars. No marching bands but there were 2 beauty queen floats.

Fireworks over the Pungo River in Belhaven, NC.

We stopped at Goose Creek State Park to hike before going home.
