Trina's Beach Submission

Atlantic Beach. NC.

Trina went to Topsail Beach with her family and then drove north to go to the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. Which she enjoyed since she has this infatuation with fishes especially large ones.

Jacksonville. NC.

Then Trina met me in Jacksonville where we did a site visit and met with Kelly and Lisa from Keep Onslow Beautiful. We went to the local skatepark to talk about the RE3 campaign that is used there - when low and behold there was this large beautiful water tower behind us.

Work Trip #3 - Jacksonville, NC - July 25, 2006

Kenansville. NC.

On my way to Jacksonville to meet the folks from Keep Onslow Beautiful I stopped to take some pictures.

I was so happy to get this picture because the Adopt-A-Highway sign said Keep America Beautiful Duplin County. That will be perfect for my KAB presentation coming up.

I am not really sure what South Park is besides a stupid animated show. It isn't a town in NC.

Richlands. NC.

Our friend, Chris, is from Richlands in Onslow County. This is for you Bubba!

Here I am taking video of Lisa Grant from Keep Onslow Beautiful. Trina and I have become little film makers recently.

Trip East to See Family - July 20-23, 2006

Oakview County Park. Raleigh. NC.

We started by taking the dogs to the dog park to get them tired before our 5 hour trip. We stopped to get this picture before heading out of town and providing Q-Tip a place to pee.

Nash Community College. Nash County. NC.

We tired the dogs out, however, we gave them a drink after running around and had to stop at this water tower to let Q-Tip go to the bathroom again. But with his little bladder (and all the excitement of riding in the car) he had to go to the bathroom again an hour later but we didn't know this until he went in the car.

Elizabeth City State University. Elizabeth City. NC.

Then Millie threw up in the car outside of Elizabeth City. Fun times!

Southern Shores. NC.

Well, we finally made it to the outer banks and left the dogs at the doggie motel in Southern Shores.

Duck. NC.

We were headed to Corolla to meet family who had rented a beach house and went through Duck on our way.

Ocean Sands. NC.

Then we hit Ocean Sands. I am not sure if this is a town or just a strip mall community.

Currituck County. NC.

The beaches of Currituck were great. We had perfect weather, no flies and spent many hours in the sun. Next time, we will have to bring the dogs because that County allows them on the beach all year long.

The family had a great time driving on the roadless beach in our rented jeeps.

We got to see the wild horses.

We stopped at the interesting "museum" found at Corova Beach.

Grandy. NC.

Then on the way back home we stopped in Grandy - for gas and to let Q-Tip take a pottie break.

We stopped and had lunch with the Davis' and Blindt's along the Pasquotank River. Much to my surprise we got to look over the water at a very pretty checkered water tower.

Elizabeth City. NC.

This water tower belongs to the US Coast Guard station there.

Also on our way home we stopped to see Janice and the kids. Boy have they grown up.

10 things I want to do this summer

I just want to say I am sorry that your comments have not been showing on my blog over the last couple of months. I changed my settings somehow and all the comments were sitting somewhere waiting for my approval and I didn't know it. But I think all is straight now.

When I visited Casey in NE in April she recommended we put a list of 10 things we want to do this summer on our blog. So here is my list even though the summer is kind-of half over:
1) Go to the beach - Plan to go to the outer banks in a couple of weeks with my cousins. Should get some new water tower pics along the way.
2) Apply for my project management certification - I really need to buckle down and do this.
3) Go contra dancing
4) Paint my yoga room
5) Read - I have been regularly going to the library which I have not done since I was probably 10. For those folks that like to shop but can't afford it, go to the library!
6) Learn one new recipe - I have been excelling at this. I have been cooking lots of new things.
7) Try out for the Carolina RollerGirls Roller Derby - Wish me luck. Tryouts are July 31.
8) Write an article on a historic water tower for the NC Division of Historical Resources.
9) Work with the dogs to feel comfortable at the dog park
10) Live in the present moment and not obsess about the past and plan too much for the future.

10 Years and Still going STRONG - July 3, 2006

To celebrate our 10-Year anniversary we took a little road trip.

Wilson. NC

This was a great water tower with a large bull dog painted on it for Barton College which is in Wilson.

Whites Tires. Wilson. NC

I found these 2 cool old water towers in a kind-of run down part of town in Wilson. I think Whites Tires must be one of the main companies in town.

The large man statue is a famous "Roadside America" piece.

Farmville. NC

Owen and I ate at a Pizza Hut in Farmville because we couldn't find any good restaurants in Wilson. If anyone knows of a good restaurant in Wilson please comment on this post.

Greenville. NC.

East Carolina University had a presence in this town. Their mascot is a pirate. Similar to Owen's alleged ancestor, Edward Teach (a.k.a. Blackbeard).

Washington. NC.

The first little town we stopped at along the way - Washington. We walked along the Pamlico River but the estuarium was closed and it was nearly 100 degrees.

Pactolus. NC.

Beaufort County. NC.

Our final destination was the River Forest Marina and Inn at Belhaven, NC. Unfortunately Belhaven's 1 water tower was very boring so I didn't take a picture. However, we passed lots of Beafort County water towers.

Belhaven's Fourth of July parade included lots of emergency vehicles, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, new cars and old cars. No marching bands but there were 2 beauty queen floats.

Fireworks over the Pungo River in Belhaven, NC.

We stopped at Goose Creek State Park to hike before going home.
