Watertower hunting from the front of a mini van

To start our water tower hunting day we first drove by the large paper making plant in town.

Monroe. LA. Jackson St.

Our first water tower picture was a total gem. This is a fire training facility, hence the half a car and plane.

Monroe. LA. Downtown.

Then the next water tower was even better! We found an old building downtown that had an old water tower on the roof. The art and public garden below was an added bonus for the picture.

Monroe. LA. Near Train Yard, Civic Center, Public Works Building.

The final water tower we found that day really topped the cake for my nephew who loves trains.

To close it out I took a picture of the downtown Monroe skyline with the train bridge.

Watertower hunting from the back of a mini van

West Monroe. LA.

Paul and Allison now live in West Monroe, home of the rebels.
We left home with the kids in search of water towers on our way to the Black Bayou National Wildlife Refuge.

Sterlington. LA.

We saw this water tower upon leaving the bayou.

Monroe. LA.

Monroe is on the other side of the Ouachita River from West Monroe. This water tower was in a very interesting area near a boat barbershop and another odd tower object.

High Point History

High Point . NC.

More pictures from Susan and Darin. They used to live in High Point, NC and were traveling trough to Charlotte to visit family. I asked Darin to provide me with some prose about the pictures. . .

"The whole city (High Point) revolves around furniture and the twice-yearly furniture markets. They also have such horrors in town as the world's biggest dresser (I think it's a building with a facade that looks like an open dresser drawer with an enormous sock hanging out of it - you really have to see it to believe it)."

Blythewood. SC.

Once in Charlotte they dropped down to SC to rescue some guinea pigs.

A visit to THE SCRAP EXCHANGE

Durham. NC.

This is the Lucky Strike water tower in the new American Tobacco multi-use downtown redevelopment area. Photo taken by Susan.

Owen and I went to The Scrap Exchange's holiday party last night in Durham. We bought lots of great gifts from local artists using scrap material.

Pasquotank County and the new millenium

Elizabeth City. NC.

In 1999-2000, I lived across the street from this water tower in Elizabeth City and walked past it every day to work.

Today my Wake County coworkers visited E-City to look at their recycling program. I had them say hello to my buddy Janice and her kids.

If only water towers could collect rain

Orlando. FL.

Went to Orlando for the national Keep America Beautiful (KAB) conference and it rained the whole time. Got these pictures from the car. Not my best!

Meghan in Mason Michigan

Mason. MI.

I begged Meghan to take a picture of a water tower with snow on the ground when she was home in Michigan over Thanksgiving. The barn in the picture is just topping on the cake.

Lots of Columbia's

Columbia. PA.

Bob and Emily live in Columbia, MD and also have family in Columbia, PA. Weird! Not to mention my mom lives in Columbia, MO.

Marcus Hook. PA.

With the dark clouds this looks like a scary area and water tower. Em almost went off the road to get this picture. That is a dedicated friend.

York. PA.

My collection is growing.
