H2O - Water Towers, Etc.

12/04-Driving from Columbia, MO to Raleigh, NC I noticed water towers in the distance, some from miles away. Most often they showed the town's name so you would know where you were without the map. I wish I started to take pictures on that trip, but the idea of logging H2O towers was only in its infancy. This blog came almost a year later when I realized I really enjoy taking the back road to find what neat H2O towers exist. Feel free to post a link or story about your town's local H2O tower.

Springfield Oregon - The home of the Simpsons

Up on Kelly's butte you will find the Springfield, OR water tank.

This is the supposed "real" town in the Simpson's.

The water tank was hard to find and even harder to photograph since it was on the top of a hill covered by trees and houses.

San Fran - rainy but beautiful

San Fransisco. CA

A very famous location in San Fransisco, Alcatraz, has it's own water tower. We didn't visit this but could see it from the shore.

Like most big cities the water towers were on top of big buildings. Like this one here.

Valley Ford. CA.

We then drove up the coast towards Oregon on highway 1. We saw a few old wooden water towers in Valley Ford, CA and near Jenner, CA. These towns were so small I was surprised to see a water tower at all. I assume they are still in use.

Crescent City. CA.

Then on our way out of CA we spent the night in Crescent City.

They had a water tank with an excellent mural.
