Work Trip #6 - Charlotte, et al - September 19-21, 2006

Charlotte. NC.

I headed to Charlotte with Flat Stanley (a little guy traveling the country who loves to visit new places), given to me by Jeremy Shoop.

While at the conference I visited the trade room floor and had my picture taken with this NASCAR car.

I also took lots of pictures of the cool trucks and compactors for my nephews.

Then I took a day to do some site visits.

China Grove. NC.

Salisbury. NC.

Check out these 2 water towers. Momma and baby. Then I saw this cool reflection in the window. Boy, I am becoming so artsy.

Motor Boat Ride and Water Tower Hunting - September 17, 2006

Melanie's dad took us out on his new boat. Jason and Owen went tubing together once before realizing it wasn't a good idea. Very fun time!

Check out some video from our trip on YouTube.

New Bern. NC.

Mel's parents live in New Bern, a very cute town on the Trent River. We had a great lunch and then went boating.

Kinston. NC.

On our way home we stopped in Kinston to get this water tower picture. They are also an "All America City".

Brown Rogers Dixon Water Tower

Winston Salem. NC.

Two water towers via one hotel window courtesy of Jason King.

"This rusty tin can sits atop the old Brown Rogers Dixson building in downtown Winston. The building is an old tobacco warehouse that I was told was recently purchased by a developer and will be remade into some pricey condos. I thought it was a nice contrast with the new Winston-Salem water tower a few blocks away. It was also the highlight of my view from my hotel room for the past few days."

Mom's surgery

Just thought I would share with everyone this picture of Mom's scar! This is after 4 days. You should have seen it right after the surgery. The little tube was to suck blood from her wound. Yum! All is well now. She is up and about and doing great. :)

Work Trip #5 - Kernersville - August 28, 2006

Kernersville. NC.

Jim, Trina and I headed to Kernersville to talk to Mary about their "Supersize It" program. This is where they switch out little curbside recycling bins with larger roll carts. This water tower says Kernersville but it is in really light letters.

Felice Hosiery

Kernersville is a town of about 20,000. Not much going on there but this water tower, near downtown, belongs to Felice Hosiery. It is one textile factory actually still around.

We did have a little fun while there. That is Jim in the small recycling roll cart.

Mom's trip to Biloxi

Biloxi. MS.

The family headed to the Gulf Coast for a vacation and mom took this picture of the Biloxi water tower for me.
